This is a cross post from the GoLive forum.

I cannot get a VQ site to strip out the GoLive tags, all of the csref's and csobjs and the like. I've delete the site file and reconnected to VQ, the behavior still persists. As noted below, I have another VQ site where stripping is occuring, so I guess there is a corrupted setting somewhere, and I am guessing that it is "somewhere", I know not where.

This same site is exhibiting other problems as well (read below). I'm beginning to think that it might be a good thing to figure out someway to reload the site fresh into VQ.

Original post to the GoLive Windows Forum...

I have two GoLive CS sites, both using Version Que, and both with identical strip options for uploads.

One strips the code from the upload, the other does not strip the code during an upload.

The only difference between the two is one uses Templates, and the other does not.

I also have another site, not managed with Version Que, and it uses Templates but does strip the files of GoLive elements during upload.

This site is also developing a really bad habit of pulling in files from the directory directly above and outside of it's directory structure. I just started it again, and in the Extras, now 4 files have shown up that are outside of the site.

For example:

documents
security
web-content
web-data
1.jpg
2.jpg
3.jpg
......it's picking up the jpg files. Then when I tried to fix things by removing all local files then removing the .site file and downloading everything again, it still picked them up and then when I moved to site trash, it deleted them. Well, first it crashed.

Scary since one of the directories above there is the one with all the programming for the web site.

But getting back to the original issue: is there any way to get this beast working correctly??

I really would like to have the code of this site stripped when it goes to production this Monday.

thanks....

I'm sorry to have nothing to offer, but I will add this: I have a GL VC file that nested a large batch of web-contents folders inside each other, and imported the Dolores Fathead VC sample site into the site I was working on. I cannot delete all of the files. I could move the site en masse to another directory and delete it, but the original is untouchable.

When a path looks like Site Folder>web-contents>web-contents>web-contents>web-contents>
web-contents>web-contents>web-contents>web-contents>, you will most likely be tempted to bag Version Cue until somebody takes an interest in it and fixes (or talks about?) the thing.

@Dirck - when it works, it works wonderfully. When it does not (aruggh).

On one site it decided to upload the Documents folder, all 31 MegaBytes, giving the PSD files such names as:

10028navBar2.psd
6028h3side.psd
6030h2.psd
9364BanquetHall.psd

Where the numbers were appended to the front, and it uploaded it into a folder called "other".

However, on that site, even though it wants to sync my Documents folder, it DOES strip out the extra GoLive stuff.

What I'm not having problems with is it keeping versions of my files, now that I have moved the 400+ PHP PEAR library files outside of VQ's control. It and GoLive just croaked over trying to parse those files, which while they ended in PHP were not web documents, but files filled with coding interspaced with enought HTML to drive VQ nuts (I think GL also). If I needed version control for those files (which I don't), I would use CVS instead.
