Can't Login to Version Cue from GoLIve

I installed Version Cue on a OSX Server ( 10.8) which is on a different sub-net. Our
firewall is configured to let the proper port thru. When I am in GoLIve and try the
menu selection "File/Connect to Version Cue it brings up the "Connect to
Version Cue Project" window. It shows the ip of the VC Server but its grayed
out and I can't get access to it. Any ideas?

What is strange is that in Photoshop CS I can create a project and save files
to the project. but the status is always indicated as "Offline"

Rob,

I believe that you are required by your licenese to have version cue
on the same machine that you have installed your software on. That is
not to say that you couldn't be running on all the software on the
Server, but you should note that OS X Server is not a supported OS.
Having said all that you might try to check that yo have the latest
version of Java 1.4.1. Apple just recently made available a new
version of Java 1.4.1 that supercedes the version that was made
available and pulled. Java 1.4.1 is required for Cue.

Just a bit of clarification here... While it's true that the Creative Suite is one product with one serial number, the license does allow you to install Version Cue (only VC, not any of the other applications in the Suite) on a separate machine to be used as a server.

Lynn,
Thanks for the update. One question. The Adobe site doesn't list OS X
Server as a platform for the Creative Suite. Is Cue known to be OS X
server compatible with both OS X.2 and X.3?

Hi Rob Martin,

the Online-State of the server is checked by small UDP-packets sent to the server (similar to "ping"). Maybe your firewall is configured to let through only TCP-packets on port 3703; you should add allowance for UDP-packets on port 3703 then.
