I recently tried to setup my first Version Cue site. My workstation is running v10.3.1
OSX. I run Version Cue on a stand alone MAC OSX servver v10.2.8

The problem is that everwhere in GoLive you can turn off Passive FTP....EXCEPT
for the Publish Server under site settings. The check box is grayed out where I
can't make a change. I called Adobe tech support and they confirmed that I can't set up
a Publish Server in GoLive with Version Cue unless its a Passive connection. This is
reallly bad!!!!! If anyone knows how to get around this, please let me know. This was not
a problem in GoLive 6 and the Workgroup Web Server.

Help ......

Why is it really bad? I don't know many FTP servers which do not allow passive mode FTP. I know a lot of corporate and other firewall configurations which allow *no* active FTP.

This was not a problem in GoLive 6 and the Workgroup Web Server.

Then you never watched a TCP/IP packet sniffing session with GL6.0.1/AWWS1.0.1 ;-) It used passive mode transfer even when that option was unselected. All file transfers from the Workgroup Server to the Publish Server were passive mode.

I have exactly the same issue, I've just moved a site that is over 150mb in size into version cue and everything work fine after testing it in normal Golive CS for three weeks. Then I go to upload the changes in the site and I can't because PASSIVE FTP is on and I can't turn it off! I can in the built in FTP server but NOT in VERSION CUE.

This is a big issue for me as the site is held on a secure server with very limited port access and a really strict fire wall that the company hosting it will not turn on passive FTP as there are security issues. Now what do I do? are there any work around?

Please can we have feedback and a fix Adobe.

Dominic,

I haven't played with version cue much, but if the raw site is
accessible in the server hosting version cue, then you can use
InterArchy to handle your ftp needs. It is truely one of the great ftp
programs out there. If necessary perhaps you could host the site
locally on your compute and then use InterArchy to upload the site.

Why not publish via FTP from VC to wherever GoLive is installed (localhost if they are on the same machine), then upload the "published" location from there using GoLive's FTP browser, or your third-party client of choice?

I made the first post here months ago. All I hear are work arounds. GL 6.x worked
fine. Adobe, it seems to me, broke FTP with CS. Why can't Adobe just fix it.
