Version Cue
This is the unformatted text-only version of this page: Version Cue
Frank_Stillitano@adobeforums.com 12-09-2003, 06:47 AM I am running:
Os X 10.2.8 on my 1.6 Ghz G5 with 768mB RAM
I am having the same problem as AmyGrace:
-Cannot use Version Cue.
-Version Cue will not turn on in at all under system prefrences.
I have tried:
-Reinstalling version cue off the desktop as described by John Donaldson
-Checked terminal for Java 1.4.1-returned ok
-Checked firewall was off-yep!
Version cue still won't work, any suggestions?
Frank
Lynn_Grillo@adobeforums.com 12-10-2003, 11:39 AM Did you install under the same user, or under another user?
JohnDonaldson@adobeforums.com 12-10-2003, 04:28 PM Also, are you installing to the system partition?
John
Frank_Stillitano@adobeforums.com 12-10-2003, 05:31 PM Same user...only 1 user on the system.
And the drive is not partitioned, if that's what you mean John.

JohnDonaldson@adobeforums.com 12-10-2003, 07:06 PM Did you run Disk Utility and Repair Permissions? Try that before a clean install if you didn't try it yet.
To try to gather as much info as possible. The installer apparently works? The Version Cue installation apparently finishes? The server does not start automatically after installation? You cannot raise it with <http://localhost:3703/>? The control panel in System Prefs apparently allows you to stop/start? Or is it greyed out and uneditable? If the first, do you get the error message VC could not start, please check logs? Or something else? What is installed in the Version Cue folder in Applications? Its not empty.
John
Frank_Stillitano@adobeforums.com 12-10-2003, 11:28 PM Repaired Permissions and did another clean install - no luck.
-Installer seems to work fine.
-Installation finishes successfully.
-Asked me if I wanted to start it automatically after installation, i clicked "no" then tried manually through system prefs. Have trid clicking "yes" after installation previously, no luck
-Control panel in system prefs is not greyed out, i can use that, but when i change it to "on" and click "apply now" it reads: "The version Cue preference file could not be modified. The settings could not be applied"
-Version Cue folder is not empty, it has a lot of files and folders in it.

JohnDonaldson@adobeforums.com 12-12-2003, 10:16 AM Frank,
Check the ownership and permissions settings on /Library/PreferencePanes and /Library/Preferences (note: that's the system library, not your own user library.

Frank_Stillitano@adobeforums.com 12-15-2003, 09:06 PM Any progress on my problem John?
JohnDonaldson@adobeforums.com 12-17-2003, 07:44 AM Frank,
To be honest, I think you might be best be advised to contact Technical Support to try and work through this. Are the ownership and permissions on the VersionCue.prefPane files in PreferencePanes in line with the folder? Specifically, the owner would have to be you as the group permissions seem to default to read only.

Frank_Doessel@adobeforums.com 12-17-2003, 08:36 AM Frank,
Please have a look at the permissions of:
1. "/Applications/Adobe Version Cue/config/VersionCue.settings"
(expected: owner system(root), group staff)
the file has to be read- and writable for you.
2. "/Library/Preferences/com.adobe.versioncue.plist"
(expected: owner <you>, group staff)
the file has to be read- and writable for you.
Do you have any logs in "/Applications/Adobe Version Cue/logs/"
or "/Applications/Adobe Version Cue/tomcat/logs/" ?
Thanks,
Frank Doessel
Frank_Stillitano@adobeforums.com 12-22-2003, 01:30 AM Frank here is the info you asked for:
1) VersionCue.settings
Owner: System
Access: Read & Write
Group: Admin
Access: Read Only (could this be the problem?)
2) com.adobe.versioncue.plist
Owner: frankstillitano (me)
Access: Read & Write
Group: Staff(Me)
Access: Read & Write
3) No logs in either location
Hope this sorts out my problem this time!
Frank
