Hi,
My Mac is running VC and others are connecting with GoLive. If I need to restart, my IP address changes due to DHCP. After that, no one can connect to the VC sites, they have to redownload them. Is there any way to make GoLive use the URL instead of the IP address?
Thanks,
Maurice

To your GoLive users, your Version Cue has gone offline. When it comes back online, you can have them use the Connect to... choice from the Version Cue Tools drop down menu in the Version Cue Open dialog (red toolkit icon). They would then input the new IP address and it should resolve properly to your Workspace. If you are using your Version Cue Workspace in a server-type mode, then you might consider providing a fixed IP address for that workstation to the others on your network. I believe there are ways to get DHCP connectivity to your ISP (perhaps a router or an Airport) while maintaining a fixed IP on your own machine.

Thanks, Bob.
I'm a little confused though. In GoLive I only have one choice, and that is Connect to Version Cue. When I choose that, I get a "Connect to Version Cue" dialog box. There are no red toolkit icons or other menus to be found, only the name of my Version Cue server with a triangle next to it. Turning down the triangle reveals the names of the sites on VC.
The problem occurs when someone tries to open a site downloaded before the IP address change. Somehow GoLive is still trying to find the previous IP and then can't open the site.
Thanks again for your help.

GoLive can mount Version Cue sites using New Site > Version Cue Project > Connect to Version Cue > Custom Server. You could then use the new IP address there. It would be essential to make sure all files had been checked back in to the old local mount of the site before mounting the site afresh though, or local changes made in the old mount of the site would be lost.

Thanks John, that seems to work. Just one thing.
When the site opens at the end of the process, I can see the domain name of my Mac instead of the IP address in the title bar of the Site window, which is just what I'm looking for. However the folder that's created for the files uses the IP address. Should I just ignore that? I don't want to test that it's working by restarting and getting a new IP.
Again, thanks for your help. BTW, mounting the site in this way enabled some Macs to be able to connect when they couldn't before—we were getting the ARM messages.

Maurice,
When the site opens at the end of the process, I can see the domain name
of my Mac instead of the IP address in the title bar of the Site window,
which is just what I'm looking for.
I haven't seen that before, but then again I don't run VC on any machines which are dynamically assigned their IPs, they're all static. If you can see that name though, you may be able to mount it with the name and then connect from that mount through an IP change. Couldn't say for sure, though.
