I live in Japan and the people I work with work in Georgia. I design the files, and then the editor and project manager in Georgia make editorial changes...then the file comes back to me to change a photo, etc, etc..and get ready for print. I'm trying to figure out a viable solution for sharing the files and making sure we have the latest versions. Version Cue sounds like the right answer, but so far I haven't been able to make it work properly. When I connect to the computer in Georgia, it shows up, but it shows up as [Offline}, and all of the projects aren't there. I can connect through WebDav and see the correct project, but I can't open the InDesign files in the project. When I try to simply copy the files from one computer to the other, there isn't a way to make Version Cue see the project files I've copied over...I've tried exporting from the Advanced Administration page, but same problem, Version Cue doesn't recognize the project. Help please!

We are having the same exact problem with Version Cue. We have 2 graphic designers working on InDesign. We would like to both work on the same project and we understand the part about if each one of us saves "a version", however we are having a problem figuring out how to update one or the other with the changes that we made or putting it on a third Master Page. Our work is solely in InDesign, but the tutorials show updating recent versions with links in PhotoShop and other programs. We just want to do it in InDesign.
We need to be able to both make changes during the day at the same time and have Version Cue update both of our changes to the same InDesign file so that we will both have an updated version.
If anyone has mastered this, please HELP.

Andrea,
VersionCue cannot do what you ask it to. It can't let you make changes from two computers to the same ID files. Automaticly, one or the other will take presidence on the other.
I agree that it would be VERY cool to be able do do changes in a single file from two or more computer and have ID make the merge, but I think we are still way far from that reality. Why? Because how does ID know WHICH changes to make to the file? If I change a paragraph style in my version, and you change the same paragraph style in yours, what version will ID take? Mine or yours?
What we do now is split the document and attatch it to a book file so styles and pages can be managed more easily. It's still a pain, but works for now.
