Is there a way to make PS CS2 or Bridge create small, viewable in Explorer, pictures/thumbnails (i.e.-very small jpegs) for all photos of given directories?

One very particular criterion is that all keyword meta data must be included in the file.

My reason for wanting this is to allow me to backup all photos to DVD and then delete the large files from the HD while retaining the very small jpegs on the HD. This would allow me to search for keywords in Bridge, see the results visually and then go get the desired file from my DVD archive. (My file & naming structure by date and number would tell me precisely which DVD would contain the desired file.)

Check out the new Image Processor command in the File --> Scripts menu.

Photoshop Album does just this type of cataloguing.

It is a feature many of us would like to see in Photoshop.

By the way to get help with batch commands etc, you'll need to repost in the Photoshop forum.

Chris.
