Q: I saved a file containing text layers out of Photoshop 7, and when trying to open the file again, I get the error dialog: "Problems were encountered reading layers "foo" because the layer is not a valid text layer. Some layers will use existing pixel data". What is going on?
A: This is a very rare Mac only bug. In some instances, data written to the file when saving cannot be read back in.
The bad data relates to setting the text color, and whether or not the Character Palette was up at the time, and which color swatch was used to initiate the color change.
Things to do to avoid the error in the future:
Update to Photoshop 7.0.1
Any files that have been saved with the bad data in them are recoverable
using the Repair Type Layer droplet, available here: <http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=1545>
