Multiple Feature Requests/Bug Fixes
This is the unformatted text-only version of this page: Multiple Feature Requests/Bug Fixes
DPX@adobeforums.com 10-28-2004, 10:51 PM - Need a "Home" button in the Organizer. A "Back to All Photos" button
sometimes appears but there should always be a Home button like there was
in PSA
- Need flexibility in formatting dates/times in the photo well much as
PSA offered by modifying zstring.dct. Ideally there'd be UI to manipulate
the date format and offer the ability to include day name, spell out the
the month etc.
- Need a shortcut key to launch the Quick Fix screen
- In PSA dates/times were displayed above the thumbnails in the photo well
and the tags were below. Now everything's on one line and there's not
enough room. Now you have to display large thumbnails to make the time
appear, in most reasonable thumbnail sizes you can't what the tags
are etc. I think this is substantial drop in usability from PSA to PSE
- Make video player non-modal
- Quick Fix screen: the cropping rectangle can be moved off the canvas.
It needs to be constrained
- Quick Fix screen: needs scroll bars

o3v3tz@adobeforums.com 10-28-2004, 11:37 PM First, I will emphasize that I like PSE 3! Then I will add that I think there are some "must fix" problems.
Adding to the list-
-Captions to optionally display on the PDF format Simple Slideshow as they do on the current Photo Review (PSA - Instant Slideshow equivalent) and as they did in PSA 2.
-Collections in a catalog converted from PSA 2 contain extra photos. An example is originals stuck at the beginning as extras when the edited photo is used later in the Collection. This should be fixed.
-Back to All Photos from Stacks or Version set should go back to the same position in the Photo Well as it came from. Positioning at the beginning of the photo well when going Back does not seem to make sense.
Comments on the original items-
-The cropping rectangle is a very annoying bug.
-Date format needs to be fixed!
-I strongly dislike the need to use the larger thumbnails to see the time. However, realistically I think it will probably stay that way for this version. (I have no connection to Adobe and no inside information.)
-Yes, the Home button is useful and its icon was always easy to find quickly. A mystery as to why it was removed.

DPX@adobeforums.com 10-29-2004, 12:31 AM Another one:
- add ability to reorder collections by newest first. At the moment,
as in PSA, they can only be ordered by oldest first
Colin Walls 10-29-2004, 03:41 AM - ordering of Version sets and Stacks should be more easily controllable [pref by drag and drop]
Colin Walls 10-29-2004, 03:42 AM Shouldn't this thread be under Feature Requests?
o3v3tz@adobeforums.com 10-29-2004, 12:34 PM Colin,
Shouldn't this thread be under Feature Requests?
I asked that question over on the Forums Comments forum thread that was discussing the split of the PSE forum. Did not receive an answer.

I was originally saying that I would put Requests in the existing Requests folder, but since this thread is here I decided to comment here.
So what now? I don't have the authority to move the thread and I don't think that the originator does either. Do you? Should the originator start a new thread in the Requests folder? I don't mind entering my comments again in a new thread.

Colin Walls 10-29-2004, 12:42 PM So what now?
probably doesn't matter overly much. Hopefully Adobe does review all of this stuff.
Henrik_Hermansen@adobeforums.com 10-30-2004, 03:05 PM Yea hopefully they do, since these are important issues! You can't tell if anybody at Adobe reads the posts at all (but I think they do). In the Pinnacle forums the staff comment the posts and answer questions, so you feel they are interested in the users' oppinions. It would be nice with some life sign from Adobe too.

We do get responses from Adobe folks here from time to time.
Stephen_Brooke@adobeforums.com 11-02-2004, 09:02 AM "Back to All Photos from Stacks or Version set should go back to the same position in the Photo Well as it came from. Positioning at the beginning of the photo well when going Back does not seem to make sense."
Not a great workaround but the Backspace key does provide this function.
Michael_Z_Slater@adobeforums.com 11-04-2004, 12:44 PM When returning from viewing the members of a stack or version set, use the Back button, not Back to All Photos, and it will do what you want (return you to the previous state of the photo browser). Back to All Photos clears any existing search, and as a result the photo browser is returned to a 'pristine' state which, unfortunately, loses your position and selection.

John_Rolfe_Ellis@adobeforums.com 11-08-2004, 05:23 PM I too was very frustrated that "Back to All Photos" was clearing an existing search. I suspect that I'm like many people and never even thought of using the Back button, since "Back to All Photos" was so prominently displayed and was just begging to be clicked! Smells like a user-interface design problem...
