a few questions related to the Custom Slideshow

The ability to control text color and size in PSE 3 is good, but there are areas where I am having problems.

When doing an Add Text, it seems that there is horizontal left, right or center placement control. However, there does not seem to be any control vertically over the placement of text - it is going in the middle with no choice to move towards the bottom. In some cases, that overlays the primary subject matter of the photo. Any alternatives?

When a caption is pulled in with the photo it is placed near the bottom of the photo as it was in PSA 2. This is a good position for many of my photos. However, it seems impossible to position the captions and the text added to photos without captions in the same place on the photo. Any alternatives?

I know that I could edit each photo and add a text layer. In fact I did that with one photo as an experiment. However, I am looking for a less time consuming option.

Also a question about the format and sending to friends and family:

The custom slideshow is written as an WMV file. Anyone know if Windows 98 can read a WMV file?

Barbara, have you tried to just drag the text with the mouse?

Hi Barbara,

I tried adding vertical text and could change the position to top/middle/bottom by using the 3 buttons.Infact as suggetsed by Narya the text can be dragged to any place on the file which should solve your problem.
As for the support for WMV file, I think it depends on the version of media player. If your friends have Windows Media Plyer 9 on Win 98 they should be able to view the WMV files.

Hope this helps.
Thanks,
Smriti

Alexander, Thanks. I did not realize that I could drag the text. That works well for exact positioning on a single photo. However, it will be tedious and timeconsuming to drag to exactly the same position for all photos.

Smriti, Sorry that my post was not clear. It is horizontal text that I am trying to position near the bottom. For horizontal text, the buttons appear to position left, right and I found no top, bottom control.

Basically, I am trying to duplicate the position of where PS Album 2 placed text in a slideshow. Any additional suggestions?
