I'm trying to migrate from Solaris 8 to Solaris 10, and in moving Frame 7.1
over, I'm running into a really bad font problem. The appearance is
the same regardless of whether I use JDS or CDE, making me suspect
a conflict between what the X server and Frame is doing with fonts.
Fonts in Frame (all fonts, including the startup and dialog boxes) look
like the've been smoothed by the X server and Frame, and the result
is that most of every character is smoothing and very little is black.
Text in Frame looks like a page that has been copied over and over
again on a Xerox machine. Fuzzy and hard to read.
I have tried various settings of font smoothing settings under JDS
and font resolutions in Frame (xresources/Maker file). The font
smoothing settings under JDS seem to affect built-in applications
(such as the terminal) but not Frame.
Has anybody seen such a problem and fixed it? Adobe tech support
sent me to look at display resolution, but it has had no effect.
