I import images into Nikon View from a flash card reader, then do a little editing in Nikon Capture, save the RAW as a TIFF and open in Photoshop Elements 3. I convert a copy from 16 bit to 8 bit, resize and save as a JPEG in My Pictures. For some reason I do not get a thumbnail. My TIFF files show a thumbnail when saved in My Pictures but the JPEG shows what I think is an Adobe icon. When I try to open the photo in a regular sent e-mail I get a message that says "This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the Folder Options control panel." I tried both "Show common tasks in folders" and "Use Windows classic folders" but neither one worked to open the attached JPEG. If I try to use the Elements 3 e-mail feature I get a message that says the file could not be converted to a JPEG attachment. I am obviously doing something wrong. I have previously been able to attach JPEG photos to my regular e-mails. I am using Windows XP Home Edition on a 3.2GHz Dell computer with 1024MB RAM.

Could someone tell me the procedure to follow to make a JPEG copy of a TIFF file (converted to 8 bit) and save the JPEG in My Pictures showing a thumbnail so that the photo can be inserted in an e-mail as a file attachment from My Pictures?
Are there any Photoshop Elements 3 settings (Preferences) that should be set to enable thumbnails to show for photos saved in My Pictures?
