I figured out how to dock the palettes to the right, but I can't seem to figure out how to get them in a tabbed pane as in PE2. Right now they are separate tiled windows. I know I am missing something but I can't figure it out!
Thanks-
Phyllis

HI, Phyllis. You can't combine palettes in the bin, but if you drag them out of the bin you can drag their tabs together just like in PE 2. Just don't forget to uncheck "close to palette bin" or they'll hop back in there every time you close one.

Also, once you've got them out, don't forget to drag a tab to a tab, not the top bars. Also, I find that some windows will only let you drag other tabs to them, not them to other windows. There's no consistency about which is which, so I can't say,"You have to drag other palettes to the Layers palette tab" because there's no telling which ones will behave that way.

I just answered this somewhere else...so here is a starting point;

the biggest hurdle you'll cross here will open the doors to layers;

Open an image in Elements. Then, open another image in elements. Go to toolbar>Window>images>cascade. You will see that you have two images on the screen, one overlapping the other. Grab the title bar to the images and manually seperate them a bit so that you can see more of the images. Select the 'move tool' from the tool palette. Click on one of the images to highlight it. Click in center of the image and manually drag one image over the other while holding down the shift key. Now take a look at your layers palette. You should now have both images in layers palette....one over the other. The bottom layer will be called a 'background' layer. Double click on that layer in the layers palette. A pop up window will ask you to rename the layer...you can rename it if you wish or just say OK to the default '0'. Now you have 2 layers. With every new image you want to bring in just follow the same steps. Some people prefer to use the copy/paste command as well. Now every image is on it's own layer so you can manipulate/move/position them any way you want. This is very basic Elements but will get you on your way...please come back if you need further assistance.
