Thanks, jack Thomas_Knoll@adobeforums.com 03-09-2003, 08:53 PM I'm not allowed to comment on future products or updates. stevesreed@adobeforums.com 03-11-2003, 05:42 PM Unfortunaely, that mean I have to return it, before the 30 day return policy expires. I love the product, but it will not work wi my new camera, so it's pretty useless to me now. If someone from Adobe would at least say "we're looking into it" I might consider keeping it. From what I've read, it's pretty trivially different from the D60's file format. An Id tag has changed, etc. -Steve Reed Phil_Pool@adobeforums.com 03-14-2003, 08:45 PM Dear Mr. Knoll, We are in the process of purchasing 2- Canon 10D's. I have purchased the plug-in also, but I feel like returning it also, if we won't be able to use it with these new Canon's. Since a plug-in isn't the entire Photoshop prgram, why can't you at least say to purchase the camera and most likely it will be supported. It's not like Photoshop has any competitors that will take this information and destroy Adobe.....please! I work for a studio and I want to get the best quality that PS has to offer. I'm a huge PS user and have been since 1991. I've already paid $100, knowing that the next version will include camera raw, I don't think telling me yes or no will make Adobe any more or less money. Phil Pool Jeff_Schewe@adobeforums.com 03-15-2003, 11:22 AM Phil, What part of "I'm not allowed to comment on future products or updates." don't you understand? The lack of 10D support in Camera Raw is _NOT_ Adobe's fault. Canon chose not to provide documentation and cameras for testing. If you wish to point a finger at the people responcible, point them at Canon. As far as Thomas answering your question, he simply can not. It would be a violation of Adobe policy and NDA's. Phil_Pool@adobeforums.com 03-16-2003, 09:47 PM Jeff, I've admired your work and digital talent through many periodicals and I was a little surprised by your abruptness with me. As a struggling photographer, I didn't appreciate the mini-flame you gave me. $99 that I paid out of my pocket that my employer won't pay me back is a lot of money to 'speculate' on for me. He has a bunch of junky PC's here and my e-Mac is the only Mac, so I wanted it for my Mac. Mr. Knoll didn't say anything about this being a Canon problem and I know that talking to Canon is equivalent to talking to Adobe. They're both big enough that they can be as high and mighty as they want. I've spent well over $2,000 since I started using PS at 2.5.1. I know you and a bunch of other respected photographers get the honor of alpha testing. I don't. I threw away my Camera Raw plug-in to see if I could get it to install a second time and now I can't get it to install from the .dmg file that was sent through the new Adobe download manager. Is this because Adobe can now regulate upgrades better through the use of a download manager or because it wants to prevent more than one installation? Jeff_Schewe@adobeforums.com 03-16-2003, 11:08 PM Phil, Asking Thomas to say something he simply can not say is what promted me to respond. If you take that as a mini-flame, sorry. . .but Thomas just can't say a thing about things he can't talk about. He didn't say anything regarding Canon's behavior to Adobe because he's not in a position to say anything about that either. . .but having personally tried to get Canon to be supportive of better software (including Camera Raw) I have knowledge that Canon COULD have sent a camera for testing and chose not to. So, in my mind, it's Canon's fault that CR doesn't support the 10D, _NOT_ Adobe's fault. And, the fact that Canon COULD have done so and didn't kinda ticks me off. As for the issue with Adobe Download Manager and the inability to reinstall, sorry, I'm not sure why this would be the case. When trying to reinstall, do you get an error message? Does it fail to find Photoshop? When you threw away Camera Raw, did you also throw away JPG 2000? I'm thinking that for some reason the installer is somehow confused. I don't think ADM does any install count checking, but I could be wrong. Dave Howe might be able to help, otherwise Adobe Customer Support can. Phil_Pool@adobeforums.com 03-17-2003, 02:01 AM Jeff, Thanks for calming me down.....I meant what I said about watching and reading about your work. I hope to hear you on platform someday. When I get to the part that asks for my registration number, I put it in and it says it's the wrong registration number! Got me confused! I'll just call Adobe and hopefully they can straighten it out. I'm going to keep snooping around, because Canon's got too much competition (the new Kodak 14n, that I think is a 1Ds wanna be and doesn't quite pull it off) and it's a great camera! Phil Thomas_Knoll@adobeforums.com 03-17-2003, 08:18 AM Make sure you enter Camera Raw's serial number, not Photoshop's serial number. They look very similar. Anne_F._Bellenger@adobeforums.com 03-17-2003, 04:34 PM Where do I get Camera Raw's serial number? It didn't come with the download. I think I'm going to stop payment on this plugin. The response from Adobe is pitiful. Amd I've been a user since PS2. This is digusting/. HEH_Associates@adobeforums.com 03-17-2003, 04:47 PM Read this article: <http://www.creativepro.com/story/review/19008.html?cprose=4-10> One of the points it makes is this: < We compared Adobe's interpretation of several raw images shot with a Canon PowerShot G3 and a Canon EOS D60 to the same images converted using Canon's raw conversion software and could see no difference in final color quality. I think I'll be spending that $99 on something else. Kerry Thomas_Knoll@adobeforums.com 03-17-2003, 05:57 PM "Where do I get Camera Raw's serial number? It didn't come with the download." It comes via email from the Adobe store when you purchase the plug-in. Thomas_Knoll@adobeforums.com 03-17-2003, 06:01 PM "I think I'll be spending that $99 on something else. --Kerry " OK. Have fun with Canon's software. Erik_Nelson@adobeforums.com 03-17-2003, 11:21 PM Thomas, I would like to thank you for Camera Raw. I know alot of people are complaining, I say let them complain! This plug in is a godsend when compared to Nikon or Canon's offerings on the Mac platform. Of course I would love to use this software with my 10D, but I have learned to be patient when it comes to Canon cooperating with anyone. Thanks again Thomas! erik Louise_Parrish@adobeforums.com 03-17-2003, 11:41 PM I was planning on buying it, will it work with the Nikon Coolpix 5000. Thanks. Louise Parrish Thomas_Knoll@adobeforums.com 03-18-2003, 08:07 AM The Nikon Coolpix 5000 is basically the same at the 5700 as far as the raw file format is concerned. So it works, but Camera Raw does not pick up the white balance parameters stored in the file, so the default white balance does not match the camera's default white balance. You can adjust the temperature/tint sliders after opening the image to get any white balance you want. Louise_Parrish@adobeforums.com 03-18-2003, 12:49 PM Thomas Thank you very much for the clear answer. Louise Parrish keith_forrest@adobeforums.com 03-22-2003, 04:41 PM Help us, Obi Won Kenobi!! The 10-D is the neatest and hottest thing since sliced bread. The Raw Camera Converter is the neatest and hottest thing since sliced bread, AND sex (well ok almost!). I was one of the first wave o pioneers to chunk out $28,000 for that kodak dcs-1/460, so all the rest of you can get digital cameras for less than the price of an expensive sports car (i used to keep a Lexus Keychain on my dcs-1 strap), When the d60 came out last year, we put the dcs-1 in the closet and havent touched it since! Then 2 weeks ago we got the raw converter, and it was love at first sight! then last we got 2 f the 10-d's - it was love all over again! So why cant I now use my adobe love (potion) on my new love!? (grin). come on folks at adobe, it cant be THA hard to make an updated patch for this, considering now that : A) the cameras are OUT on dealers shelves and so accessible, and B) this will be the successor to the d60 as the hottesy digial camera out. I DONT wanna wait til the end of the year for PS 8!! PLEASE, BOYS and GIRLS at Adobe!! Keith Forrest ralph_eisman@adobeforums.com 03-22-2003, 04:46 PM Thomas. From reading other newsgroups I know there is a patch that will allow Canon10D's to work with the Raw plug-in. Alas I do not have the computer skills to edit the original. I sold my D30 assuming that the 10D would be included, so I am frustrated. Would it be illegal for someone with the proper skills to send me a patch that would enable my 10D to use the plug-in? TIA ralph eisman Anne_F._Bellenger@adobeforums.com 03-24-2003, 09:30 AM How do I go about returning it? No registration number ever came from Adobe. I find their behavior poor in contrast to the former excellent customer service. MarcPawliger@adobeforums.com 03-25-2003, 03:11 AM In article <1de8364c.20@WebX.la2eafNXanI>, Anne F.
