Hi,

The Coolpix 5000 have (like many camera) a 512 elements table for store the defect (hot or dead) pixel. These pixels are disable when the camera make the color interpolation... so the result is great. But... unfortunately the pixels are not disable in the color interpolation of the NEF files in Nikon Capture 3.5.1.

I'm very happy to see that Adobe Camera Raw do disable the hot pixel ! But.. i have a question. Does the plug-ins disable the pixels of the 512 elements array present in the nef files.. or have a little algoritm for find and disable these pixels ???

Last question: Some "weakly hot" pixels stay present on the image ... why ?

Thank !

The Camera Raw plug-in has an automatic hot/weak pixel filter that looks for isolated very bright or dark pixels and interpolates over them. It does not use the camera's bad pixel maps, since Nikon did not document them.

The "weakly hot" pixels that stay present fall below the threshold Camera Raw is using it is hot/weak pixel filter.
