I am finding that I cannot get ACR to produce images as sharp as either Capture 3.51 (D1x) or Ex Converter (S2pro). I have tried several sharpeness setting in ACR but no luck. I would be happy to send samples to someone willing to look.

Yeah. It seems to be a pretty serious problem. I find that my EX 12 meg raw files converted by EX are a LOT sharper than ACR conversions. It simply looks like there is lost information - detail as well as color. Although ACR is 11 times faster, it basically is unusable. JPEG files come out sharper than ACR raw files. Crazy! See the Fuji and Nikon SLR forums on dpreview.com. Many are finding the same thing. Sigh! I can't believe Adobe would do this.
