I get this exact error from an archived message (see below). Only exception is versions. Running Elements 7.0 (same error regardless of Reader versions - Reader 7.0 or 8.0 or 8.1) and Office 2003 on an XP SP2 machine. How do we solve this issue? We get this below error message, we click yes to use default settings and it creates the pdf. It prompts with this message everytime we want to convert a .doc to .pdf. We want to get rid of this message.

I am trying to convert a Word doc to a pdf. Currently Using Adobe 6.0 Std and Word XP. My steps are:
1. Create a Doc in Word
2. Using the Drop down in Word labeled "Adobe PDF" and selecting "Convert to Adobe PDF" (alternatively right click on .doc file)
3. Then asks to save a copy of the Word doc
4. Then asks to save a copy of the PDF
5. Elements / Distiller kicks off and I receive an error:
Unable to find the following Adobe PDF Settings File.
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\Adobe PDF 6.0\Settings\C:\Docume~1\<USERNAME>\Locals~1\Temp\Standa~1.JOB.joboptions
Do you want to use the default Adobe PDF Settings File? Yes or No
If I select yes - distiller completes fine and the word doc is converted and opened in Adobe Std. So my question is - why is distiller throwing this error???
I've checked the registry, adobe preferences, etc and cannot find anything. Distiller is currently defaulting to the Standard.joboptions file and it is located in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\Adobe PDF 6.0\Settings. And what's up w/ the rest of the file path of the .joboptions file that its looking for?
Any help would be much appreciated
Thanks in advance,
JB

Looks like your job options are toast or missing.

This will happen if another person has saved or created the pdf file and DID change the joboptions. They have rename the standard to standard1, which is the default name given when the defaults are changed. When you open the pdf file, it is looking for the new joboption so you get the error. Once you tell it to use defaults, it works fine and uses the defaults.
