Default Acrobat 8 Prowon't deploy via Group Policy. Multiple Event errors on client saying file can'tbe fo

I've been trying to get this to work and I just can't. We're trying to deploy Acrobat 8 Pro via GPO in our domain. It's a small number of computers (100), but at the moment I'm just testing on one computer in a test OU. Not sure if it matters, but in hopes that maybe it's a problem, my test computer is a virtual machine under VMWare Workstation. It's a member of the domain and it's worked fine for everything else in the past.

I have a server setup for software installations. Let's call it "bob". I've created a software share on bob that contains the install point patched to 8.1.2. I've also put our transform (*.mst) file that we customized into that location as well. In fact, we have a *.cmd batch file that installs the Acrobat 8 with our specifications and license code just fine.

When I go into Group Policy Manager and create a new policy just for Acrobat 8, it appears to take fine. When the client computer boots up, the startup scripts and other policies get applied fine. However, the Acrobat 8 policy reports the following:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: Application Management
Event Category: None
Event ID: 101
Date: 7/14/2008
Time: 4:57:10 PM
User: NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM
Computer: DAEDALUSXP
Description:
The assignment of application Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional - English, Français, Deutsch from policy Adobe Acrobat 8 Pro failed. The error was : The system cannot find the file specified.

Event Type: Error
Event Source: Application Management
Event Category: None
Event ID: 108
Date: 7/14/2008
Time: 4:57:11 PM
User: NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM
Computer: DAEDALUSXP
Description:
Failed to apply changes to software installation settings. Software changes could not be applied. A previous log entry with details should exist. The error was : The system cannot find the file specified.

Event Type: Error
Event Source: Userenv
Event Category: None
Event ID: 1085
Date: 7/14/2008
Time: 4:57:11 PM
User: NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM
Computer: DAEDALUSXP
Description:
The Group Policy client-side extension Software Installation failed to execute. Please look for any errors reported earlier by that extension.

I don't understand why "the system cannot find the file", because \\bob\software$\acrobat8\ is easily accessible by the computer. The AcroPro.msi and AcroPro.mst files are contained within that same folder. When I create the package within the policy, it detects the Acrobat 8 information. I tell it I need Advanced so I can add the transform file into the Modifications tab.

So, on the surface, everything appears to go smoothly. When it comes time to actually install on startup of the computer...well, it reports the above errors. I've searched the net and cannot seem to find a solution to this. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.
