How do i make audition work with the Alesis Multimix?
I am currently working with the alesis multimix and cool edit pro 2.1. CEP only supports two of my multimix channels, i have gone through all the steps (device order, choice of drivers, sound card specs)to try and get CEP to support all 8 channels simultaneosly. The multimix is a firewire mixer, i bought it because it is supposed to stream all 8 channels at once. So what i need to know is, will audition allow me to assign all 8 channels to separate tracks? It is so very vital that i solve this problem, because if i don't my drum tracks will keep suffering! I need 8 channels of control! So can anyone tell me if audition will support my channels and allow me to asign them all to individual tracks on the program.

Probably the multimix uses an asio driver for multichannel operations, which works with Audition but not with Cool Edit.
But wait for someone who has used that combo before spending money! Also, try a forum search.

You are probably right, i almost have no doubt. CEP is cool, but its old news these days, and has drawbacks. if anyone knows a trick to getting CEP to work with all the channels, besides the drivers, Let me know!

I don't know if this helps but I use a firewire device (RME FF800) which allows me to 'see' 20+ input channels. Audition allows you to assign each one to a seperate track.
I can only assume that the alesis multimix being firewire will do the same. I suspect that if not by using its default driver (which is highly unlikely) AA would probably work with the asio4all driver.
Certainly, as Ozpeter suggests, it would be better to hear from someone who has this device.

Re: How do i make audition work with the Alesis Multimix?
I think you guys are right on. what you are saying is that i should just use the asio drivers that already come with the multimix and just pair it with AA,right? I know thats just you're opinion, but it sounds right on. So i do have thr right drivers? Man i hope someone reads the subject on top and tells me what's up. Or maybe i will just buy AA and give it a try, they said i can return it, so maybe it's worth a shot.

Can you download the evaluation version and try with that? You don't have to uninstall existing versions, they operate side by side perfectly well.
