The stand alone scanning application (Epson's, SilverFast, VueScan) should work fine for you without the TWAIN plug-in. The latter is needed only if you're scanning inside Photoshop, which is a waste of time.
Oh, that makes sense. Hmmm, well I'm not going to pay for SilverFast or VueScan so I'll look at Epson's software. I do so little scanning it isn't too big an issue... plus my computer is slow enough that I'm never worried about 'wasting' 30 seconds or so while a scan is being imported. I just reply to my e-mail or some similar time waster.
Its strange but I had 2.34 installed before and it worked fine. I tried 2.65 and all I get is a message saying I have the wrong scannner connected, but I clearly specified the 3200.
I use Vuescan for what little scanning I still do.
I don't scan inside Photoshop I haven't ever since I switched over to OSX when it was first released.
I don't have any funny Prefs folders and I don't have any corruption that I'm aware of.
every few months something goes goofy I run Diskwarrior or fsck -fy and everything Is back to normal. I've been doing this way before CS2 was released.
